A Triumph of Innovation

Project Overview:

In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, we embarked on a journey with limited resources, armed with determination and innovation. Our mission was clear: to create a profound impact with modest funding. Each Euro, equivalent to 382.37 Hungarian Forints, was stretched to its limit to yield extraordinary results.

Five Groundbreaking Technologies Developed:

  1. Inactivation Breakthrough: The heart of our project was the development of an innovative UV inactivation process. This groundbreaking procedure transformed patient samples used in diagnostics into infection-free resources, making safe and secure research possible.

  2. Revolutionary Plasma Analysis: We harnessed this process to analyze blood plasma from COVID-19 patients, selecting preparations rich in anti-viral antibodies. This advancement holds promise for therapeutics and provides new insights into immunological responses.

  3. Monitoring Cellular Immunity: Our efforts extended to creating a system for monitoring the cellular immune response triggered by COVID-19. This tool is invaluable for assessing the efficacy of vaccines, a critical part of global pandemic management.

  4. Broad-Range Pathogen Applicability: The innovative device we developed isn't limited to COVID-19; it has the potential to be applied to other pathogens, expanding its utility in the future.

  5. Accelerating Global Research: By achieving these goals, we've accelerated research efforts aimed at combating the coronavirus, supporting healthcare workers and scientists, and contributing to our collective understanding of vaccine effectiveness.

Project Success Under Limited Funding

This project's journey was a testament to what determination and innovation can achieve. With a total grant of €335,000, equivalent to HUF 127,660,536, we managed to create five groundbreaking technologies. These innovations have already left a significant mark in the battle against COVID-19.

Pécs researchers conclude a successful COVID-19 project with an army of new procedures

The experts of RoLink Biotechnology Kft. and the University of Pécs (PTE) have achieved a huge breakthrough in coronavirus research in the past two years, as thanks to their research, both the antibody and cellular immune response triggered by COVID-19 can be measured with a newly developed device. As a result of the research, this procedure will also be applicable to other pathogens in the future. The project "Covid-19 Diagnostics and Therapy - unified platform approach" within the framework of tender number 2020-2.1.1-ED-2020-00100, the Ministry of Innovation and Technology and the National Research, Development and Innovation Fund of the Ministry of Culture and Innovation was realized with the support of HUF 127 million.
